Heading to Ethiopia!

Well, we have a surprise - we have started the process to adopt our fifth child from Ethiopia! We would love to have you join us as we blog about the journey. You can follow the process at our new blog - gotoethiopia.blogspot.com. As always, we love your comments, and especially your prayers!

Dos

Gigi turned two, and she thinks that she is big stuff! One of my friends gave her this little dress, and you would have thought it was a pageant gown. She was ear to ear smiles when she modeled it. We may have a diva on our hands :)

Summer snapshots

My mother in law took these pictures of Gigi, and I cracked up when I saw them because they really capture her. The first one looks very sweet and innocent; the second one shows her getting serious about the hose. Finally, in the last one, we see the real Gigi - no hair bow, no pretty dress - naked as the day she was born and playing in the water!

We are still here!

First, Happy Mother's Day to all! I hope that each of you feels special today. Here is a little update on the D's. We are trying to sell our house. So, for all you prayer warriors out there, please pray that the Lord will bring our buyer. Next, Gigi LOVES to play outside. From the time that she wakes up in the morning, she goes to the door and begs to go out. I have included an "action" shot of her on the trampoline. It is so cute to see this tiny person "catching some air". Finally, I have a confession to make. I am a bit of a "Duggar stalker". This is the family that has the show on TLC called "18 Kids and Counting". They were in our area recently, so a couple of my kids and I went to the show where they were going to be. After the show, we were hanging out near the horses, and the family came out. They were very gracious to talk with the people there (okay, so me and a couple of others :)), and R even snapped this picture of me. I have to tell y'all, they were SO kind, sincere, and friendly.

Enjoy the last bit of the school year!

Random Pictures

These first two pictures are of Gigi's hands following a snack of Cheetos. They are a little different down here, and she loves them!

The boys took a "treetop tour" of Antigua the other day - a series of zip lines. They were thrilled!
Lent has begun, and the Guatemalans really celebrate the season. This is a picture of a "velacion". It is a painting that people make in the front of a church. It takes A LOT of time and is very special to the locals. They have also made alfombras - carpets - in front of the church. My Spanish teacher recommended that we make the "short" walk to the neighboring town to see this church. It was more like a 30 minute hike each way, but it was worth it!

Guateque - the water park

Daddy arrived on Friday - just in time for us to take Riley to the hospital for his foot. On Saturday, we went with our friends to the water park. I think that Gigi had more fun than anyone! It was a beautiful, sunny day, and we were grateful to play in the water.

Tough Break

Poor Riley - this is what he did today. He was running down the street for me, tripped on a big rock, and broke his foot. This will certainly change the way he gets around down here. They have little taxis called tuk-tuks, so he will be taking those to and from school. My kids love to ride in these - it is a special treat; so, he is not too upset about this prospect. Grace and Brady have generously volunteered to keep him company on these rides.
